A short-term criminal investigation has led to the arrest of a Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Corrections Deputy according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright.

Robert Lowring, 62, of Bienville Parish, a Corrections Deputy at the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center on Thursday afternoon charged with 1-Count of Malfeasance in Office and 1-Count of Sexual Battery.

The investigation began this week, when Command Staff at the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center received a complaint of alleged allegations of misconduct involving Lowring and a female inmate.

Detectives assigned to the NPSO Criminal Investigations Bureau began investigating the alleged complaint and developed sufficient evidence and probable cause to interview and arrest Lowring on criminal charges.

Lowring who worked at the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center for 2-years was terminated following his arrest.

Lowring remains in jail.

Natchitoches Parish Detention Center Major Roger Henson said the allegations in this case are inexcusable and certainly not tolerated. However, it does not reflect on the vast majority of correctional officers here, and across the nation, that maintain professionalism throughout their tours of duty. As law enforcement officers we are held to a higher standard and are expected to serve our parish with the upmost honor and integrity. Not only to ensure the safety to our communities, but to also provide a safe and secure facility for incarcerated offenders.”
