Three suspects fleeing from a single-vehicle crash has led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and firearm according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright.

It all began on Thursday evening, July 25, 2024, at approximately 10:47pm, when NPSO Cpl. D. Halliburton attempted to stop a 2013 Kia passenger car on La. Hwy 1 near Natchez.

After activating emergency lights on, the vehicle failed to stop and continued to travel southbound on La. Hwy 1. As the vehicle neared the intersections of La. Hwy 1 and La. Hwy 119 in Natchez, the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle leaving the roadway on the right side striking a utility pole near the Dollar General store.

Deputies say what appeared to be three juvenile males immediately exited the vehicle and began to run in separate directions in the Natchez community.

Additional deputies responded to assist.

Swepco responded to repair the utility pole.

Deputies canvassed the area and issued a BOLO message for the fleeing suspects.

A search of the area was unsuccessful.

Deputies returned to the vehicle observing a loaded Glock semi-automatic 9mm handgun and cell phone lying on the driver’s seat in plain view.

Deputies ran a LSP NLETS check on the license plate learning it was a switched tag.

Deputies then ran the vehicle identification number through NCIC learning the vehicle had been reported stolen to Natchitoches Police Department on July 20, 2024.

The vehicle was stolen from the Lakeview Apartments area.

Deputies then focused their attention on the firearm running it through the National Crime Information Center learning it was reported stolen to Natchitoches Police Department on October 13, 2023 from the Paula Lane area.

Natchitoches Police Detectives were contacted and responded to process the vehicle for evidence.

A local wrecker service was contacted to impound the vehicle for investigative purposes.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. If you have any information and can identify the occupants of the vehicle please contact the NPSO Criminal Investigations Bureau at 357-7830 or Natchitoches Police Department at 352-8101.

Cpl. D. Halliburton was assisted by Deputies K. Padilla, Lt. M. Robertson and Sgt. D. Dorsey.
